There is something so incredibly special about photographing a family in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by the people (and pets!) they love most. It was such a privilege to travel to the Bunbury region to capture this beautiful lifestyle newborn session for sweet Baby Ava, alongside her wonderful Mum and Dad, Taylor and Jonny.
From the moment I arrived, it was clear that Baby Ava is already so deeply loved. Their home was filled with warmth, excitement, and those precious newborn moments that pass by far too quickly. Lifestyle newborn photography is all about capturing these authentic memories—gentle cuddles on the couch, tiny fingers wrapped around Mum and Dad's hands, sleepy snuggles, and the little details you'll treasure forever.
One of my favourite parts of this session was including the family's two gorgeous dogs. Our furry family members are such an important part of our lives, and I absolutely love incorporating them into newborn sessions whenever possible. They were so gentle and curious around their new little sister, making for some truly heartwarming photographs that tell the complete story of this exciting new chapter.
Unlike a posed studio session, an in-home newborn session allows families to relax in a familiar environment. There's no rushing to pack the car or worrying about whether your baby will settle in an unfamiliar space. Instead, we work at your baby's pace, taking breaks for feeds, cuddles, and nappy changes whenever needed. This creates a calm, stress-free experience and results in beautifully natural images full of genuine connection.
The soft natural light flowing through Taylor and Jonny's home created the perfect backdrop for timeless photographs. Every cuddle, every tiny yawn, and every loving glance between them was documented in a way that truly reflects this beautiful season of their lives.
