A BIT ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Emma Zealey, the photographer behind Emma Marie Photography, and I feel incredibly lucky to call this little business of mine a job. It might sound cliché, but I genuinely love taking photos and, even more so, the people, stories and memories behind them.

My husband, our two beautiful kids and I now call the South West of Western Australia home, after a pretty incredible adventure that took us all over Australia. We packed up our lives and spent 14 months travelling around Australia, living out of our caravan and exploring this beautiful country as a family. It was an amazing chapter of our lives and gave us a whole new appreciation for slowing down, being present and making the most of the little moments together.

Eventually, we found our way to the South West and fell completely in love with the region. We decided to put down some roots here, and Cowaramup is now home. After spending so much time travelling, being surrounded by beautiful landscapes, beaches, forests and that relaxed South West way of life feels pretty special.

I've been serious about photography for around 20 years. My love for photography really came back to life when I was on maternity leave with my daughter. What started as a passion slowly grew into a business, and I eventually took the leap and turned photography into my full-time career rather than keeping it as a side hustle.

Being a mum has also had a huge influence on the way I photograph families. I know how quickly our kids grow and how easily the little everyday moments become memories. For me, photography isn't about everyone standing perfectly still and looking at the camera — it's about capturing the cuddles, the laughter, the crazy moments, the little personalities and the connection between you.

Alongside photography, I have qualifications in Event Management and Graphic Design, and I've always had a love for beautiful styling, design and creating experiences.

My photography style is natural, warm and relaxed, with a love for beautiful natural light and the earthy, rustic and bohemian aesthetic I feel so at home in here in the South West.

These days, you'll usually find me exploring the beautiful beaches, forests and little hidden gems around Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and Cowaramup, camera in hand, documenting families and creating photographs that I hope will become treasured memories for years to come.

Because after travelling Australia for 14 months, I've learnt something pretty important — it's the people and the moments along the way that you remember most. And that's exactly what I want to capture for you. ❤️
