A Beautiful Maternity Session at Crooked Brook Forest

There is something so special about photographing couples as they prepare to welcome their very first baby. It's such an exciting chapter—filled with anticipation, love and the quiet moments before life changes forever.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Camryn and Jesse for their maternity session at the beautiful Crooked Brook Forest, just outside of Bunbury. With only a few short weeks until they meet their little one, it was the perfect time to capture this incredible season of their lives.


Why Crooked Brook Forest is Perfect for Maternity Photography

Nestled in the South West, Crooked Brook Forest is one of my favourite locations for maternity photography. The towering trees, soft natural light and peaceful surroundings create a timeless backdrop that's beautiful all year round.

For couples looking for something different from a beach session, the forest offers a warm, earthy feel that perfectly complements natural maternity portraits.

Whether you're travelling from Bunbury, Busselton, Collie, Donnybrook or elsewhere in the South West WA, it's a stunning location to celebrate your growing family.


Capturing the Excitement of Becoming Parents

From the moment we arrived, it was obvious how excited Camryn and Jesse are to become parents.

Their session was relaxed and full of genuine moments—walking hand in hand through the forest, sharing quiet cuddles and taking a moment to soak in these final weeks before meeting their baby.

These are the memories that often become the most meaningful.

Not just photographs of a beautiful baby bump, but photographs that capture the excitement, anticipation and connection between two people about to begin the greatest adventure of their lives.


A Relaxed Maternity Photography Experience

One of the things I love most about maternity photography is creating an experience where couples can simply enjoy spending time together.

You don't need to know how to pose or worry about looking awkward in front of the camera.

I'll gently guide you throughout the session while encouraging plenty of natural interaction, allowing genuine moments to unfold naturally.

Whether we're walking through the forest, exploring the coastline or watching the sunset over the beach, my goal is to create images that feel authentic, timeless and full of emotion.


When Should You Book Your Maternity Session?

The best time for maternity photos is usually between 34 and 36 weeks pregnant. By this stage, your beautiful bump is nicely defined while you're still generally comfortable enough to enjoy your session.

If you've left it a little later, don't worry! I've photographed many beautiful mums right up until 40 weeks, and they were so grateful to have captured this special chapter before meeting their little one.
